Many machines advertise themselves as smoothie makers, but they are basically just blenders with spouts. The semi-professionals at Perfect Smoothie and regular smoothie enthusiasts have tried and reviewed several blenders and smoothie makers and here is a list of what they consider the best.
The Vitamix 5000 or 5200: This blender is a top quality machine and is used by professionals and enthusiasts alike. While this machine may be expensive, the fact that the 2 horsepower machine can make a batch of smoothies in no time flat should have you making smoothies daily, making the machine pay for itself. In addition this blender will do so much more, making it an even better investment.
Blendtech Total Blender is perfect for Kitchen Remodeling: This blender comes with a 1500 watt motor, a 64 ounce jar, and a recipe book. Blendtech has taken the guess work out of the perfect smoothie by preprogramming its cycles. Just push a button, walk away, and come back when it is done. For smoothies made with harder to blend ingredients, such as frozen fruit, this blender is smart enough to know to boost the power at the end.
The “good old” Oster blender: The Oster comes in several designs and models, and two of the most popular are the Beehive and the 12 Speed models. The Beehive has 2 speeds, looks great, and is easy to use. It easily blends fresh and refrigerated fruits, but does not fare as well with frozen. The 12 speed Oster blender has a more speeds to choose from, and can handle a bit more than the Beehive, but is still limited to fresh or refrigerated fruits.
The Magic Bullet: if you are new to making smoothies, then the Magic Bullet is for you. It is inexpensive and small, making one or two servings at a time. This model will allow you to decide if you want to be dedicated to making a smoothie or a batch every day. Since the Magic Bullet is small and makes everything in a cup, it is easy to clean and has the advantage of being shaken while blending. This ensures that all the fruit and ice is perfectly blended into the smoothie.
